The literacy rate is around 30% among the vulnerable populations of Benin. Most of them are women.

Illiterate people are more likely to be disenfranchised and lack access to means of supporting themselves.
-
Illiterate women and children are especially targeted by thieves, kidnappers, and human traffickers.

Illiterate people often receive an adulterated form of the gospel and teaching of the Word of God. They are not able to verify the Scriptures for themselves.
-
Illiterate people will normally remain in the poverty cycle their entire lives.
Much prayer, financial support and people resources are needed to help reduce the literacy rate within Benin and the most vulnerable people in the villages.
